Auto China 2026 Review: Shifting the corporate fleet landscape
Auto China 2026 marked a shift in the global automotive landscape, moving beyond mere ambition to deliver production-ready tech that addresses the many operational concerns of fleet customers. EV Fleet World was on the ground in China to evaluate the latest wave of debuts, from nine-minute ultra-fast charging breakthroughs and starship-inspired executive MPVs to the next generation of established premium flagships. This comprehensive round-up profiles 14 key models that could redefine UK corporate choice lists, luxury shuttle operations and urban service fleets over the next 24 months. Simon Harris reports.

BYD Seal 08
Premium long-distance travel
The Seal 08 arrives as the new flagship for the BYD ‘Ocean’ series, targeting the high-end corporate saloon sector. Its standout feature for high-mileage drivers is the debut of Flash charging, offering a ‘ready in five, full in nine’ minutes turnaround. Crucially, BYD is not relying on third-party infrastructure. The brand has confirmed a UK rollout of 300 dedicated Flash charging stations by the end of 2026. These will feature onsite battery buffers to ensure the nine-minute full charge is an operational reality.

Xpeng X9
Luxury chauffeur and urban shuttle
The starship-inspired X9 is a purpose-built seven-seater designed to disrupt the luxury van market. For fleet customers operating in tight urban environments, its active rear-wheel steering delivers a turning circle of just 10.8m. Built on the 800V SEPA 2.0 architecture, it features a 17.3-inch rear theatre screen and an air-conditioner-powered refrigerator. Distributed by IM Group, it serves as a high-tech, rapid-charging alternative for VIP airport and hotel transfers.

BMW i7
Tier-one executive choice
BMW has overhauled its flagship for 2026 year with ‘Neue Klasse’ technology. The mid-life refresh boosts the i7 WLTP range to 452 miles, solidifying its position for high-end saloon-choosers requiring maximum single-charge security. The cabin now features a full-width panoramic dashboard display and enhanced 250kW rapid charging, ensuring it remains the incumbent benchmark.

BYD Sealion 08
Multi-passenger premium transport
The Sealion 08 is a 5.1m SUV designed to bridge the gap between a family SUV and a luxury MPV. Featuring six independent seats over three rows, it is aimed at premium corporate transport and salary sacrifice schemes. It utilises DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension for a level of ride composure usually reserved for the high-end luxury sector, alongside the group’s new nine-minute Flash charging technology.

Smart Concept #2
Last-mile and city service
Returning to its micro-EV roots, the Smart Concept #2 concept is a dedicated two-seater designed for the urban landscape. For city-bound service fleets, its 186-mile range in a 2.7m footprint offers a highly efficient tool that is suitable for short urban hops. It sits on a new dedicated Electric Compact Architecture, prioritising urban agility and a low cost of ownership.

BYD Yuan Plus (Atto 3)
Core choice list and salary sacrifice
The UK popular Atto 3 moves into its third generation with a heavy focus on lidar-assisted safety. The new God’s Eye B automated driving system and a redesigned, more ergonomic steering wheel target high-volume fleet safety ratings. Utility is boosted by 39 storage areas, including a new 180-litre powered front trunk that can be opened with a simple tap.
