Tomorrow’s fleet is more efficient, sustainable and electric

This year we’ve been living and breathing improvements to vehicle fleets. As well as assisting customers on their EV journey, we’ve been busy transforming ourselves. We now operate 276 electric vans and almost 500 electric company cars. In addition, we’ve installed charging facilities at all our sites and continue to expand to cater for the growing number of EV drivers.

More manufacturers are releasing a variety of EV models, The first generation of EVs – rolled out primarily to fleet users over the past few years – are now making their way into the used vehicle market. As a result, the switch to EV is more accessible for others who are keen to start their electric journey – and the public charging infrastructure continues to improve with more than 50,000 charge points now in operation.

In October, we saw regulations regarding public charging introduced by the government. These included new laws to make charging an electric vehicle easier, quicker and more reliable across the public network. The regulations also gave drivers access to transparent pricing information, simpler payment methods and a better view of available chargers on the road. In addition to these measures, we also saw commitments to improve the grid connection process, something that we know many of our clients struggle with – in particular the need (in some cases) to upgrade the supply capacity at their premises.

So, what does 2024 have in store for us? Well, here at E.ON we’re launching our ElectricFleet proposition; a game-changer for fleet operators. We’ll install chargers in your company car park, provide your employees with access to on-the-road charging and install chargers in private parking spaces at homes, all as part of one overall solution. This solution will also include access to comprehensive data to help with your Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) reports – and a full overview for fleet reporting and associated billing and reimbursement. Together, we can make tomorrow’s fleet a reality in 2024.
